Free class timetable maker for teachers: make your class timetable once, edit it any time and print it in 17 styles

A free class timetable maker for teachers

Timetable Maker is a free class timetable maker for teachers: type your week once, keep it saved to your account, and print it in 17 styles whenever it changes.

It's made for the classroom, not borrowed from a business planner, so register, assembly, break and lunch are part of it from the start. And because the timetable belongs to your class, the same week shows on your Sage Morning Board and Whiteboard too. One place for your timetable, and you only type it once. (In the US you'd probably call it a class schedule. Same thing.)

How do I make a class timetable?

Make your class, build your week, then pick a style and print it. Three steps, and the first one only happens once.

  1. Make your class. Give it a name. Pupil names are optional and can wait. Every timetable belongs to a class, so this is a one-off.
  2. Build your week. Do the whole week at once, or go day by day if no two days look the same. Type your lessons, add a break and lunch, and add the things that run across the whole week, like Register, Assembly or an ECA (an after-school club).
  3. Pick a style. Choose one of 17 looks, with the days down the side or across the top, landscape or portrait. Then print it, or download the PDF.

Can I edit my class timetable later?

Yes. Your timetable is saved to your Sage account, so you can come back any time, change a lesson and print it again. Swimming moves to Thursday, a new reading group starts after half term, PE loses the hall for a fortnight. Change it once and the next printout, your Morning Board and your Whiteboard all show the new week.

That's the bit a template can't do. A Word or PowerPoint timetable lives on one laptop, gets copied into a new file every term, and by February nobody's quite sure which version is on the wall. Here there's one copy, in one place, and it's the one you print from.

Classroom timetable display ideas: 17 print styles

Every style prints on one A4 page in your own subject colours. Each subject keeps its colour, so maths is the same colour on the wall, on the board and on the sheet in your planner.

Each one prints with the days down the side or across the top. Days across works on landscape or portrait, and days down needs landscape. Put it up by the door, and don't be surprised when the teacher next door asks where you got it.

Can I paste my timetable from Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. If the office has already sent the timetable as a spreadsheet, copy it and paste it in, with the days along the top or down the side. Your lessons come in ready to tidy, so a timetable template you already keep in Excel doesn't need typing twice.

Is it a visual timetable?

Not the picture-card kind. Timetable Maker makes a colour-coded weekly timetable in words, one colour per subject, for the classroom wall. If a child in your class uses picture cards, keep those going alongside it.

Frequently asked questions

Is Timetable Maker free?

Yes, it's free. Sign in so it can save your class and its timetable, then edit it and print it as often as you like. The free plan keeps one class and its timetable. Pro keeps more, for teachers with several classes.

Why do I make a class first?

Because Sage keeps everything under your class. Make it once and your timetable shows on your Morning Board and Whiteboard too, and every other Sage app already knows your class.

Can I build my timetable one day at a time?

Yes. Build the whole week at once when most days look alike, or go day by day when they don't. Both make the same timetable, and you can switch between them.

Can I add break, lunch, register and assembly?

Yes. Add a break or a lunch where it falls in your day, and add anything that runs across the whole week, like Register, Assembly or an ECA (an after-school club).

Can I download my timetable as a PDF?

Yes. Print it straight away or download the PDF, in any of the 17 styles. Days across prints landscape or portrait, and days down prints landscape.

Is it a class timetable or a class schedule?

Both. In the UK and much of the world it's a timetable, and in the US it's usually a class schedule. It's the same week either way, and you name your lessons whatever your school calls them.
