Every child becomes a rubber duck on a jungle river. Press start and the ducks race over a waterfall, round a whirlpool, past a hungry crocodile and into a photo finish. The order is drawn fairly before the race begins, so nobody can say it was rigged. Use it for line-up order, presentation order or who goes first, or just as a brain break the class will ask for again. Load a saved class or paste up to 36 names. Free.
The Broadcast
The camera cuts like the telly, between bird's eye, the riverbank and a duck's eye view. Each stretch of river gets the camera that shows it best, and you never quite know who has won until the photo finish.
Bird's eye
The whole pack from above, all the way down. The easiest way to follow every name.
Riverbank
Side on, as if you were standing on the bank. The nearer ducks look bigger, so the pack has depth.
Is it fair?
Yes. The finishing order is drawn at random before the start, using the browser's secure random numbers. Everything after that is just for show. A duck that gets stuck on a sandbank, spun in the whirlpool or snapped by the crocodile swims a little faster afterwards to make up the time, so the order never changes.
How many ducks can race?
Anything from 2 to 36. Load a saved class or paste the names in, one per line.
Do the children need devices?
No. It runs on your whiteboard or screen. Every duck carries its child's name, so the class just watches for their own.
Can I see the full order afterwards?
Yes. After the podium, press See all results and the whole class appears in finishing order on one screen, big enough to read from the back of the room.
Do I need an account?
You need a free account to start a race. Signing in also lets you load a saved class list instead of typing the names every time.
Can I turn the sound off?
Yes. There is a Sound button in the header while the race is on, and it remembers your choice on that computer.
Is it free?
Yes. Duck Race is free and uses no Pro tokens.
Picking one child rather than ordering the whole class? Try The Hook or Spin the Wheel. Sorting the class into teams? Try Groupings.
