Spin the Wheel — a free-to-try random name picker and decision wheel for the classroom

What is Spin the Wheel?

Spin the Wheel is a free-to-try random name picker and decision wheel for the classroom, and an alternative to Wheel of Names. Type or paste anything onto the wheel — pupils' names, or any set of choices — or load a saved class, then spin to pick fairly. It ticks as it spins, plays a fanfare with confetti on the winner, and you can remove each pick so you go round the whole class without repeats. Need to split a class into groups instead? Try Groupings.

How to use it

  1. Add what's on the wheel — type or paste entries (one per line), load a saved class, or tap a ready-made wheel.
  2. Choose your options — remove after pick (for fair turns), sound on/off, and how many to pick per spin.
  3. The wheel builds itself as you type — tap it (or press Space) to spin.
  4. Celebrate the winner, then spin again, keep them in, or remove them.

More than a name picker

Spin the Wheel doubles as a decision wheel for a hundred little classroom moments. Use a ready-made wheel for Yes / No / Maybe, a reward (five minutes free time, no homework, pick the music), a brain-break activity, a dice roll, heads or tails, or turn order — or type your own.

Spin the Wheel FAQ

Is Spin the Wheel free?

Yes — it's free to try. You can type or paste entries and spin, or sign in to load your saved class lists instantly.

Can I spin for things other than names?

Yes — type or paste anything, or use a ready-made wheel like Yes/No, a reward wheel, a brain-break wheel, dice or turn order.

Can it avoid picking the same pupil twice?

Yes — turn on Remove after pick and each winner drops off the wheel, so you can go round the whole class fairly.

Does it make a sound?

Yes — a ticking sound as it spins and a fanfare on the winner, with confetti. You can mute it with the Sound toggle.

Can I pick more than one at a time?

Yes — set how many to pick per spin (up to four) to choose a pair or a small group at once.
