Sage Teachers (sageteachers.com) is an interactive classroom tools platform built by a serving primary school teacher, for teachers. It is operated as a sole trader business based in England, United Kingdom, and Sage Teachers is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us at hello@sageteachers.com. We will always aim to respond within 5 working days, and that address reaches the person responsible for your data directly.
We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller; the registration number will be published here as soon as it is issued.
Sage Teachers accounts are for teachers and education professionals aged 18 or over. Pupils never need an account — where pupils take part (for example joining a class game with a code), they do so without signing in, under their teacher's direction. Section 7 explains how pupil data is handled.
When you sign in with Google, we receive and store your name, email address, and profile photo in our secure database (Google Firebase/Firestore). We do not collect or see your Google password. Your usage preferences, starred apps, and a count of the tokens you have used are also saved against your account. We do not store payment card details — all payments are handled securely by Stripe, and we hold only your subscription status.
Depending on which tools you choose to use, your account can also hold information about your class: pupil first names in class lists; points and scores in reward tools; seating notes you write about where a child should sit; and, if you save them in the Login Card Maker, the usernames and passwords your school has issued to pupils for other services, so you can re-print their login cards. Only ever save what your school's data policy allows, and no more than the tool needs — first names are all most tools require.
If you send us feedback or a support message, we keep your name, email and message so we can reply and improve the service.
We use your data only to run the service: to sign you in, to save your classes and preferences so you don't have to re-enter them, to meter and manage your token allowance, to manage your subscription, and to respond when you contact us. Under UK GDPR our legal bases are: contract (providing the service you signed up for), legitimate interests (keeping the platform secure, preventing abuse of the generation features, and understanding what to improve), and consent (optional analytics cookies — see section 8). We never sell your data, and we never share it with anyone for marketing.
Sage Teachers runs on a small number of trusted services, each processing data on our behalf under its own published data-processing terms:
Google Firebase — sign-in, database and hosting (Google LLC, USA). Google Gemini — powers the Generate features: the prompts you type, and any text, documents or images you or your class submit for generation or marking, are processed by Google's AI service (Google LLC, USA). ElevenLabs — turns text into spoken audio for read-aloud features (ElevenLabs Inc, USA). Stripe — payment processing (Stripe Inc, USA). Google Analytics — optional usage measurement, only if you accept analytics cookies (Google LLC, USA). Cloudflare — network security and basic, cookie-free traffic counts (Cloudflare Inc, USA).
Where these providers process data in the United States, the transfer is protected by UK GDPR safeguards — the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the UK's approved standard contractual clauses, per each provider's terms.
Our database is secured behind a two-factor authenticated Google account and is governed by Google Cloud's security infrastructure; access rules ensure no other user can read your account's data. Your account data is kept while your account is active. You may request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing hello@sageteachers.com — we will action this within 30 days. Names typed into a live class game exist only to run that game and are not used for anything else. If a data breach ever puts your data at risk, we will tell you and the ICO as the law requires.
Pupil information on Sage Teachers belongs to your classroom, not to us. For any pupil data — names in a class list, a name a pupil types to join a game, or a photo of their work submitted for AI marking under your direction — you and your school remain the data controller, and Sage Teachers stores and processes it only on your instructions to power the tools you choose to use. We never use pupil data for anything else, and we never share it except with the services in section 5 as needed to run the tool you are using (for example, a photo of work sent for AI marking is processed by Google Gemini).
You are responsible for ensuring that anything you enter complies with your school's data protection and safeguarding policies. Enter the minimum the tool needs — for most tools that is first names only. If your school needs a summary of what we store and where, email us and we will provide one.
We use essential storage to keep you signed in between visits. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) are set only if you choose "Accept all" on the cookie banner — choosing "Essential only" keeps them off, and the site works identically either way. You can clear cookies at any time via your browser settings.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, and to restrict or object to our processing of it. Email hello@sageteachers.com and we will action any of these within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Sage Teachers is built and maintained by one practising teacher and is improved continuously. By creating an account, you acknowledge that: features may be added, changed, or occasionally removed; occasional downtime may occur, though we will address any issues as quickly as possible and communicate outages promptly. The platform is provided in good faith but "as is" — we cannot promise it will be available at any particular moment, and you should not rely on it as your sole resource for any critical classroom activity.
Some features use AI to generate questions, word lists, images and other content. Generated content has not been individually reviewed — you are responsible for checking it for accuracy and suitability before using it with pupils.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the platform — including lost lesson time. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded under UK law, or affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subscription prices are always shown clearly before you buy. Subscriptions renew automatically — monthly plans each month, annual plans each year — until you cancel. Cancelling is as easy as subscribing: use the manage-subscription option on the site (handled by Stripe's secure portal) or simply email us, and your plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for, then stops. No fees, no hoops.
Changed your mind? As a UK consumer you have a legal 14-day cooling-off period from the day you subscribe. By subscribing you agree that the service starts straight away; if you cancel within the 14 days we will refund you in full, less a proportionate amount for any period you have already used. After the 14 days, refunds are at our discretion — but we aim to be fair, so if something isn't right, email hello@sageteachers.com.
Current pricing is introductory. As a new business, our costs are still being understood, and we aim to keep pricing the same or reduce it over time as we grow. If costs require us to revise pricing, any changes will apply from the following billing cycle only — never mid-subscription and always with at least 30 days' notice for monthly subscribers.
Annual subscribers are our most committed users and we take that seriously. Annual pricing will be honoured for the full purchased period in all but the most exceptional circumstances — specifically, where it would be financially impossible to continue operating the service. This is not something we anticipate, but we include it for full transparency.
By using Sage Teachers you agree to use the platform for professional educational purposes only, and never in a way that could harm, harass or disadvantage any pupil. You must not resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to any tools or content; share your account with others; attempt to reverse-engineer the platform or abuse or overload the generation features; or use platform outputs to train machine-learning models or for any commercial purpose outside your own classroom practice.
Value actions — where an app generates content for you, and in some apps where you print, download, or open a ready-made activity — are metered in tokens. Each app's own page says what is free and what spends a token.
Free accounts receive 20 tokens on sign-up. These are a one-off allowance to try the platform — they are not a daily or monthly allowance and do not refresh.
Pro accounts receive 30 tokens per day, resetting at midnight UTC (1am UK time during British Summer Time).
Most actions cost 1 token. A generation that also produces an image costs 5, because images cost substantially more to produce — the cost is shown on screen before you generate. For a typical day of classroom use, 30 tokens is comfortably sufficient.
These limits exist to keep the platform financially sustainable and to ensure consistent performance for all users. If you reach your limit you will see a clear in-app message explaining this; for Pro accounts, access resumes the following day.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of its courts. We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in the platform or in law. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this document and, for material changes, notify you by email. Continued use of the platform after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
